Rescue and retrieval divers started the halted operation of retrieving the remaining bodies inside the ill-fated MV Princess of the Stars which capsized off Sibuyan Island in Romblon.
The Task Force Princess of the Stars headed by Undersecretary Elena Bautista conducted a mass and a flower drop ceremony in the Sibuyan Island 10am today as a signal to instigate the retrieval operation.
According to Lt. Sr. Garydale Gimotea, the Task Force is aiming to retrieve all the 605 remaining bodies before Christmas. Sulpicio Lines will provide the ferry in bringing the recovered bodies to Cebu and from there, bodies will then be identified.
As of now, there were 12 bodies recovered and the operation was temporarily stopped. MV Princess of the Stars has a total of 864 passengers wherein there were 227 recovered bodies and 32 survivors.
